ClickOnDetroit reports on Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Corrections efforts to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan’s prison facilities. Governor Whitmer said, “This is a concern that we share as an administration, and I know that families across the state are worried about the safety of their loved ones who are serving time in our prisons or jails”. Some of these efforts include mandatory testing, daily cleaning of prison cells with bleach, inmates are required to wear masks, practice social distancing and utilize proper hygienic protocols. Governor Whitmer also stated that, “many people who were eligible have been paroled in the last 10 months.”
